History
In 1958 members of the sports media of the Mahoning Valley recognized a need to form a group which would meet weekly and allow area sports fans the opportunity to participate in programs concerning current topics in athletics. Thus they founded the Curbstone Coaches, a non-profit organization for the Mahoning Valley.
Hall of Fame
To pay special tribute to those individuals that merit special consideration we have our annual Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame Banquet. We have honored over 600 individuals over the years. We honor yearly the area’s most deserving athletes, coaches, administrators, and contributors in the many fields of sports. Official nomination forms must be submitted to the selection committee. The Hall of Fame Induction is based on present and historical criteria.
Monday Programs
From September through June, members and the public convene for a noon luncheon meeting at the Avion Banquet Center on Western Reserve Road in Canfield. Guest speakers provide a good deal of insight into the world of local and national sports. During some luncheons we honor League Championships won by Youngstown State University as well as State Championships won by Mahoning Valley High Schools.
